Description
Ultimate minimal design offering maximum style. Grasp the full metal body and the coolness of its hairline texture. Simple yet luxurious. At just 12.9 millimetres, the Soul embodies the philosophy. The term ‘Soul’ was allegedly derived from the phrase ‘Spirit Of ULtra’, clever that, but looking at the U900’s capabilities certainly suggests that it’s something worth making a fuss over. It looks great for starters, featuring a dual screen display that includes a ‘magic touch’ navigation panel that changes according to the application or part of the phone you’re currently using. It’s a fully active display, used in a similar way that you might use a touchpad on a notebook, and a truly innovative way of finding your way around.
A touch navigation keypad that changes icons according to menu selections. The Samsung Soul transforms as you touch, constantly adapting to meet your various needs. There’s more than meets the eye with the advanced multi-functionality of Samsung Soul. Enjoy performance and discover the intelligence of the Soul.
The screen of the phone is a bright QVGA screen, 320 x 240 pixels. Measuring in at 2.2 inches and supporting up to 16 million colours. On the outside of the phone, with the slide closed, you will see in place of the traditional navigational buttons a type of touchpad, similar to those found on laptop computers. This proved to be a very effective way of navigating the phone menu.
The Samsung U900 also has a 5.0 megapixel camera, complete with autofocus and image stabiliser, to help you get the best shots possible. Picture quality is of an acceptable standard, and would rival many mid-range stand alone digital cameras. The handset also has a video record facility, and records at a QVGA resolution.
For your music entertainment the Samsung Soul has a full music player, supporting many music formats, including MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA. The phone also has a built in stereo FM radio with RDS support. RDS stands for Radio Data System and is used to send a small amount of digital information using standard FM radio broadcasts. This allows the phone to display, for example, the name, artist and album of the song currently being played, and possibly a playlist of the upcoming songs to be played on the station.
Connectivity wise the Samsung U900 has support for HSDPA Mobile Broadband, offering high speed downloads of up to 7.2Mbps on compatible networks. The U900 is also compatible with Bluetooth 2.0 which allows you to listen to your music from the phone to a compatible wireless headset.
